Chasenkazari

One of the (in my opinion) useful kazarimono.

Do before chaki is out. (What does this statement mean? Where does it go?)

This should all be verified against a book.

Preparation

While you only technically need one chawan for this, we always used two. One chawan to bring in the chakin, chasen, and chashaku, and one (the temae chawan) to bring in and leave the chaire in. If you don't use two, the main chawan does double duty.

The first chawan is prepared in the typical setup.

The second chawan has the ready chaire inside.

Temae

Enter with first bowl and sit directly in front of the mizusashi. Wipe the front part of the futa ("ni") and replace fukuza to obi. Place the chashaku on right. Remove the chasen from the bowl w/right and keep in left. Place chakin (technically 1/3). Move chasen back to right and place on futa on chakin (handle down). Leave with bowl. (Note that the chashaku is only placed beside chasen on nuri mizusashi futas--if not ignore all chashaku instructions.)

Return to front of mizusashi (i.e. centered on mizusashi) with second chawan and place in front with both hands. Leave to start temae.

Enter to start temae and (if appropriate) sit centered on tatami. After opening, move chawan to center on body with both hands (leave space for chaire). Extract chaire with two hands and place with one.

Continue.
